Slime, Service Calls & Summer Schedules: Bringing Our Kids to Work at Southern Chill

Running a business in the summer is no joke.
Running one with your kids in tow?
That’s a whole new level of real-life multitasking and we’re in it full swing over here at Southern Chill A/C and Heating, LLC.
We’ve always said our company is built on faith, family, and comfort, and this summer is putting all three to the test in the best (and most chaotic) way possible.
From Counting Parts to Creating Chaos — Kid Style
While some kids are sleeping in or glued to screens, ours are counting inventory, filing papers, and scanning forms between giggles and slime-making breaks.
Yes, there are literal slime containers scattered around the office, and we wouldn’t have it any other way.
Our girls have helped:
File service tickets
Count and sort parts for upcoming jobs
Print and pack training binders for our new tech helpers
Label inventory
Learn how to work hard, laugh harder, and still find time to swim
Morning Huddles & Poolside Emails
Our summer schedule has officially kicked off and that means early morning office huddles (with sleepy eyes and snack bags in tow) followed by early afternoon escapes to the pool, where Mom finishes up admin work from a lounge chair with wet footprints trailing across the deck.
Is it perfect? Not even close.
But it’s real, it’s ours, and it’s helping our kids see what it looks like to work hard and enjoy the rewards of it.
A Backyard Dream in Progress
This summer isn’t just about service calls and spreadsheets.
We’re also planting roots — literally.
We started a little summer garden with the kids and are in the process of creating a backyard hangout patio, complete with enough space to kick a ball, get some vitamin D, and breathe between calls.
It’s not fancy. But it’s meaningful.
It’s the balance we’re building one hot day, one hard job, and one glass of sweet tea at a time.
Still Showing Up — For Our Customers and Our Kids
Yes, we’re deep in change-outs, emergency calls, and heatwave chaos.
But we’re also deep in family.
And somehow in between the filing cabinets and pool floaties we’re making this season unforgettable.
We’re not slowing down. We’re just bringing the next generation along for the ride.
And honestly?
We couldn’t be prouder of how they’ve shown up, adapted, and embraced the rhythm of the business that helps keep Louisiana cool one home at a time.
This Is Southern Chill. Faith. Family. Flexibility.
To our customers — thanks for your patience when we’ve got littles in the background or a glitter trail in the hallway.
To our kids — thank you for reminding us that hard work means more when you’re doing it together.
And to all the small business owners out there doing their best to keep it all moving, we see you. You’ve got this.
Summer’s just getting started, and so are we. 💙
